Does anybody how to get into CMOS settings on a Compaq Presario 5240. I can't get into bios or boot from floppy and C: drive is corrupted. The Compaq web site is a useless waste of bandwidth.

Midknyte 08-21-2002, 03:03 AM did you try f10? ukulele 08-21-2002, 03:12 AM Thanks Midknyte, That one worked. I owe you one. AllGamer 08-21-2002, 03:13 AM yeah F10 should work on newer Mobos / Compaqs older compaqs say, from the Deskpro series, requires the HDD to be working properly. cuz the BIOS is the HDD. so if you lost that 10 meg partition, on your C: drive, then you need to recreate your BIOS by downloading those 3 FDDs ukulele 08-21-2002, 03:24 AM Looks like there isn't much you can change in bios on this pig. It has a 120/1.44 mb super disk which seems to work but won't run a win98 startup disk. I don't see any options in bios to boot from floppy. Looks like I would need a compaq boot disk on cd. Remind me never to buy a Compaq, on second thought remind me never to offer to work on one either. SysOpt.com
