I have a MinMe desktop machine an HP with a nic card, which has a modem connection to the internet. I have an old NEC notebook with Win95.

I live in an area where I cannot get a DSL connection except via satallite, so cost prohibitive.

What I want to do is network these two computers together to use the same modem connection. Preferable wireless.

I realize this is a cheap way of doing it but it is my only way.

Please help.

What do you want help with if you don't even have any parts yet?

Get a wireless network kit and install the NIC's.

Do I have to get a new nic card for the hp, or do I only need for the notebook. I guess I don't know enough on what to buy.

you can check out the wireless products at www.linksys.com. They say that they have win95 drivers. wireless is not as cheap as cabled, so it depends on how much you want to spend. you could get 2 wireless nics and use them in adhoc mode. this is basically a peer to peer wireless network.

So I will need two wireless nic's. l thought I might be allowed to use the nic card that was in the hp, go to a router and just ad a wireless nic to the notebook.

sorry, i had to rethink the WAP. you don't really need a wireless access point, but it is kinda like a wireless hub. it would give you more range and flexibility, but it's not needed for your particular situation.

yes you need 2 cards or 1 card and an access point. just like in radio or tv, you need a transmitter and receiver.

i don't think is possible via the Phone Modem now. cuz linksys removed their Router that did both DSL and Serial Port modem dialer version of the router.

i don't know of any other brand that will do Modem dialing besides linksys

Do you know the model number of the router, maybe I find it elsewhere?

Linksys dropped the line for that kind of products.
