thi s is a new thing to me and i would like to add more memory-does it have to be a special name or brand or will any work-mine is a dell-56kand4100 deminision

any will do
just make sure you buy the same kind.

first you'll have to figure out if it's

EDO
Rambus RAM
DDR RAM
or
SD RAM

then you'll also have to know the bus speed the original one uses

now with that info, you can go online, and shop for what you want.

Most of the Dell 4100 series systems I have seen are Intel based using sdram memory. There is a lot of hi density sdram out there that will not work. Copy down the service tag info from the back of your computer. Take a trip to the Dell site and look up what yours has inside. Then a trip to Price Watch for the best price on what will work...;)
