Hi all,

i recently picked up a ti4200 64mb and was well happy with it -- until about a week later it was announced doom 3 would need 80meg texture memory to run at top whack, and as a result my card will not run the game as well as the 128mb variants...

My question is how much slowdown will or should i expect to see??

Will this slowdown only apply at massivley high resolutions (i never go above 1024 x 768) ?? May i even find myself dropping down to dreaded chunkyu but 640 x 480 if i want to have all the effects maxxed out

I know i cannot be given a definitive answer due to 64mb+ apps like ut2k3 and doom3 not beiung on the blocks yet, but your estimations would be appreciated -- cheers :)

there wont be any/very little difference in 1024x726res with everythin maxed out..
at most around (3-5fps)

only in very high res will there be difference that too not very much...

I think you gota a good card...

even if it needs 80mb texture mem..you can set it in the bios.!!

i thought so, i mean lowly 32mb cards are still fairly capable for most of todays games -- just a few of the gaming publicatins i read have been going bonkers over 128mb cards and how they are esential to those of us wishing to play the next gen of FPS's etc..
