i use redhat 7.2. i am in process of installing KDE 3, and Xfree 86 4. something but i need to do all the rpm-ivh and other commands outside of x window system. how do i get out of the x window system into the plain command prompt? is there a command, like there is to startx?
pleas help!

From the KDE desktop choose Application Starter->System->Terminal to get a command prompt, or press Alt+F2 to get a mini command prompt window to execute a single command.

Ctl-Alt-Backspace also "crashes" the X-server back to a bare command line, tho you don't normally want to do that. Use a terminal or Midnite commander (mc).
