I checked my virtual memory and it was set to windows auto at 4.5gb. I changed it to 2gb low and high. I set it that high because I didn't know how the OS handles the virtual. Any recommendations?

That's a terrible waste of HD space, no matter how cheap it is. I would recommend trying setting it at say two and a half times your physical memory (ram). You know what I do, when I have 64 mb or more of ram, I set my swap file to 200 mb min/200mb max. If you're running really intense graphics software, MAYBE 300/300, but I really think that is too much. 200/200 should take care of anything you have. And anyway, if you run out of memory, you'll jst get a message, "out of memory" or something very close to that, in which case, bump the minimum and maximum up say 50 mb. Good luck man, By-Tor By-tor & the Snow Dog 02-19-2001, 12:28 AM Oh yeah, also try cacheman, which will give you fast read-out of how much ram/virtual memory you are actually using. I would use settings/windows98/low memory system for anything under 64mb, and settings/windows 98/ standard for anything over 64mb. You can download it at: http://www.tweakfiles.com/memory/cacheman.html or the latest version (4) at: http://208.50.7.100/downloads.php?product=3&PHPSESSID=2e578388137522e693013c92f11c87e5 Have a good one, By-Tor [This message has been edited by By-tor & the Snow Dog (edited 02-19-2001).] jim.t 02-19-2001, 05:45 AM thanks By-tor.
