NDC 02-18-2001, 02:50 AM To be honest with you from my experience with on-board soundcards Vs. Sound Blaster Live, I haven't noticed any big difference in sound quality. I noticed that investing in good speakers do! To get good sound quality, getting good speakers have more effect than getting a good soundcard. I see a lot of people invest in a good soundcard, but can't notice the difference because they have low-quality speakers. A decent 2 speaker setup with subwoofer for around $50 will give you much better listening experience than cheapo "bundled" ones. Plus, if you are going to be manipulating sound files quite often than the live card will give you better, faster processing. Warthog 02-18-2001, 09:23 AM Oh yes, speakers matter. Get a SB Live and also get new speakers (if you don't have a good set already). You want/need the complete package. Don't get a new soundcard and still use the $7 POS speakers that came with your comp. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif Warthog JayMan 02-18-2001, 03:18 PM I've got SB LIVE! value, and cambridge fps1000 speakers, good combination i think, and not too expensive either. They are not the biggest speakers, but they can diffinatly put out some sound. JayMan crazyray 02-18-2001, 07:23 PM Upgrading from on-board audio to a Soundblaster Live Value gave an obvious improvement when listening with high quality (Sennheiser) headphones. SysOpt.com
