Jimmy 02-01-2000, 07:50 PM I made a post once. Never got a reply.. chipbgt 02-01-2000, 07:58 PM Jimmy, Check your thread again..it may not help much but its a reply at least.... I got discouraged too when some of my questions didnt get answered when I first joined. Just shoot them back up to the top...because, with over 6000 members, someone will eventually get you the answer...good luck in the future. socalgal 02-01-2000, 08:05 PM Yes, Jimmy, sorry about you not getting a reply before. Like chipbgt said, it's quite alright to reply to your own thread after a day or so if you haven't received a reply, giving more info if you can. At least it will bring back to the top where it's more visible. Another thing to keep in mind is to give as much detail to your problem as you can, and list what your system specs are and what OS you're running. The more specific you are, the more it helps us to help you. Sometimes things like that happen though - don't let it discourage you http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by socalgal (edited 02-01-2000).] Dave_H 02-01-2000, 08:38 PM Now it says 6196 members. What happened? Did we loose one somehow? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif deep_sky, I've wondered about that myself, why would people register if they are not going to make at least one post? Only a few months ago, I remember it breaking 5000 and I don't think I've seen 1196 (or7) posts by new members. Do you think that many people just want to reserve a name? Hmmmmmm. Dave BBA 02-01-2000, 08:40 PM Well, I'm here... plucky duck 02-01-2000, 08:54 PM Well, you guys can count me in as one of those *regular guys* By the way, can someone list the regular dudes (dudettes) that are here on most days? Don't get discourage newbies, just be like me, be a little crazy, add a spice a humour and off you go answering your own posts. Don't worry, you'll get us to people like me here. The most common virus you'll get from me is *hehehe* I know, they must've disconnected themselves from the internet and got back into their *real lives* hehehe...oops, there I go again. Have a nice day, KKF. Joel Kleppinger 01-22-2001, 06:44 AM The reason for the difference is that it was originally posted back in early 2000 (look at the dates on the first posts). So in less than a year, we have more than doubled forum "attendance." http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif rh71 01-22-2001, 07:30 AM I must admit that I frequent another board more often, but I come here at least once a day. You guys here help me out quicker and most of the time give the better advice - and I'm not just saying that. It's just that I started there and just "hang out" there moreso than this board. One suggestion though... some other UBBs have user information such as FROM: and POSTS: (count) under their username in the threads... why don't we have that here ? I'm aware of clicking the little icon for user profiles, but if others have it, why don't we ? [This message has been edited by rh71 (edited 01-22-2001).] Joel Kleppinger 01-22-2001, 07:48 AM Because others have a newer version of UBB. We haven't upgraded for several reasons, not the least of which was that Earthweb had planned for years/decades/millenia to build their own forum software in-house... and kept promising that it would be the Holy Grail of forum software. Obviously, that isn't happening anymore. However, upgrading is still a non-trivial task, and so Scott hasn't attempted it yet.
