I'm planning on buying a DVD player (for my comp, for watching movies of course http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif) and I was wondering if there is any difference in the makes or models, etc.
Does it really matter weather I buy a 'cheapy' or a 'top of the line'?
Anybody have any experience with them? Or any favorite brands that are preferred?
Thanks in advance- Moose

I think most people prefer pioneer or toshiba, but i personally own a matsu****a/panasonic 16xdvd. I think i woulda prefered a pioneer but i must also say there is definatly nothing wrong with this drive, it looks just basic, but works good, isn't noisey at all, altho it could be but i just can't hear it from my case fans hehe.

As far as differences go, I don't know. Obviously, there is speed but also there is looks http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. I really like the Pioneer 104 16x slot drive (like a car player).

Slot drives do look good, but also they are alittle noisier usually. But i think if i wasnt in such a rush to ghet this computer i would have ended up getting a pioneer slot drive, but i was too sick with my P133 POS computer.
