Ok, I have recently put together a new system and everything was going quite well. I was putting the finishing touches on installing the some drivers when everything went to hell. I could not get the computer to get past the Win98 splash screen. It would freeze there everytime. Being that there was nothing valuable I simply reformated after trying everything I could think of. After reinstalling Win I am now having the same problem again. I cant even get it to start up the first time.

The system:
Abit KT7A-Raid
AMD Duron 750
Asus AGP-V7100 Geforce2 MX
256 MB Kingmax TinyBGA PC133 SDRAM (2 dimms)
Maxtor 30GB ATA100 7200RPM HD
Acer 10x8x32x CDWR
Win98SE

Everything was going fine until I installed the Raid controllers (which I didnt even need)

Any ideas?

Ok, I just reinstalled Win98 again. After the install Win started and went to load the driver. Then it restarted itself and is now frozen at the DOS line:

"Completed updating files, Continuing to load Windows..."

Grrr, what is the problem.
Oh, forgot. I also added a D-Link 10/100 Ethernet card yesterday shortly before the problems started. But it started up just fine with it in yesterday.

The system also has an Adaptec ISA EZ SCSI card with an Agfa Scanner.

I'm no computer expert, but I just put together a very similiar system with a AMD 1 gig. When we booted up windows frooze. I installed Windows 2000 professional and it picked up all of the driver (except for my video)Everything is running very good now.

Just curious, you aren't running an Aureal chipset soundcard, are you? Have heard of lots of problems with KT chipset and Aureal based sound cards.
