the pc supports wake on and I want to use it, but i dont know how. I have enabled this support from the bios but how can I wake this computer from another pc thats in same LAN.
here is the configuration if needed:
intel bx chipset (abit mobo);
p3 933MHz;
two network cards: "3Com EtherLink XL 10/100 PCI For Complete PC Management NIC (3C905C-TX)";
our hub is 10Mb Dlikn DE-809TC;
from bios i have enabled WakeOnLan feature;
the os is windows xp pro (but i thing that does not matter);
10x in advance

Did you connect the Wire that goes from your 3Com TX to your Mobo Wake On Lan plug??

Also does those NIC of yours has the BOOT-able ROM installed?

I believe that the remote NIC must be a "management" type NIC. Intel and 3Com make the most popular ones.

the 3 pin wire is plugged in nic and mobo
i use magic packet utility
but still cant wake up by lan
i dont know if I shoud find another software for waking up remotely pc

no i think there is no boot rom
but do i need it.. i only want to wake up the pc not to boot from lan?!?!?

I'mpretty sure that a WOL NIC only responds to a special signal which is sent only by a management adapter.

3Com has the FREE management software, try 3Coms own software instead.
i was not aware you were using a 3rd party software.
that could be the problem.

Just FYI, I use Magic Packet too and it works with the 3Com NICs on my network.
