hi all.

can any one point me to info sites on what bandwidth is, and i guess just general imformation to get the best performance out of your cable conection.

i also plan on picking up a hub so the wife and I can both be on line simoultainiously.

some info in that department would probably be an idea too.

thanks for your time, ward.

what numbers did you get on the speed test thingy?

hi allgamer, I ran the test yesterday with a bunch of stuff d-loading in the backgroud, and it said I was around the half meg per sec mark, then i did it again and it droped to 2700 and change kbs or maybe it was bytes? anyway just did it now, with the same basic downloads happening in the background and it came in @270 kbs.

i shut every thing off and did it again and it comes in at 833kbs.

the best I have ever had a d-load come in is 130 kbs.

i do notice that the majority of peole that upload from me run between 30-50 kbs.

i will have to read up on my server and see what they say their speeds should be. the dude that brought the modem and did what ever they do said I should do 1.5 megs a second, depending on user traffic. (uh huh) anyway I will keep poking around and learn the ins and outs through trial and error.

regards, ward.
