Mysterious Speeds

I have a 512kbit cable broadband service.


If I download from one person/from a site........the max speed i ever see is 60kb/sec, usually averaging just below that.


Now, if I download from lots of people at the same time, I am able to get amazingly high speeds.




512kbit translates into 64 kb/sec transfer rate, however i have noticed a few times, I'm way above that...... take a look at this.

Anyone else noticed it, or can explain it ?

That's completely normal, the limitation is not on you, but it's define at the server you are downloading from.

so as long as the total bandwidth goes to 512 Kbps or more then it's fine

mine maxes out at 1.5 Mbps and that's the speed i paid for, so it's good for me
