i am having trouble with a Zip100 drive.
whenever i try to copy or save a file that is large (1meg or more) to my zip disk the drive will stop and click, like it is loading something, and cause my computer to freeze up, or crash.
has anyone else experienced this?
Help me please
thanks

That is called the click of death. It is a problem some drives have. It will spread to other disks and or other drives, if you share disks. It sucks.I think the new drives have this problem fixed.

I agree, it is bad and needs to be replaced.
I had a run of bad luck with Zip and Jazz drives for a while and have had 4 of them replaced. Iomega is excellent when it comes to replacing there products under warrantee.

A little known fact is that a guarantee was given to any drives experiancing the "click of death" problem regardless of how old it is. Here is how to get it replaced if it is out of warrantee. (It has worked for me each time).
Read this page and download the sound file of the Iomega general manager giving the guarantee, and play it back to the Iomega rep when you are talking to them on the phone. http://grc.com/codfaq5.htm

You will then recieve authorization to get the drive replaced. If you give them a credit card number, they will advance ship the replacement drive to you and pay for all postage. If you want to get replacement disks, you need to tell them that you have important data stored on your disks and you do not want to take the chance that the bad drive could have damaged the disks.

You can get Iomega's phone number here. http://www.iomega.com/support/nav_contact.html
Best of luck.

Hey guys,
so far it has only occured on 1 of my zip disks.. does this mean my disk is bad? or is it still the "Click of death"? I'm not too sure which it is, what is your opinion?
