I assume RAM rated at 133MHz is better than than 100, but how do you determine if your motherboard will handle 133 if it presently has 100?

NDC 02-16-2001, 05:23 PM What is the make & model of your mainboard? When people say FSB-133 is better than FSB-100 for a FSB-100 system, they are basing their answers for people who plan to overclock their systems from FSB-100 in most cases. If you plan to run your FSB-100 system without overclocking it, I see no advantage in buying PC-133 memory for significant performance gains. The only advantage you have of getting PC-133 would be for the future when you buy another mainboard that supports 133(Standard) and a CPU that has a 133 bus. But to be honesty with you, the way systems are changing these days, I wouldn't plan too far ahead of yourself. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif However, buying the PC-133 over PC-100 wouldn't be a bad move since the price between the two are very little. Most PC133 CL=3 will accept a setting of CL=2 at 100MHz. The difference is measureable, but hardly noticeable. [This message has been edited by Roy (edited 02-16-2001).] SysOpt.com
