I have three computers, 1 on ME and 2 on XP.
I have a wireless accesspoint connected to a network hub.
A dsl modem, the accesspoint, and 1 XP computer is directly connected to the network hub.

My question is, how do I setup a lan so that all three computers are able to access each other, and all three computers can "dial" the dsl account without having the XP computer connected to the hub being on all the time?

Easy
Your Wireless access point will take care of the Dial Up for you, if you haven't set it up, just follow the instruction from Linksys Website

Depending on your isp, it might be slightly different.

but they have a good tutorial for every isp config.

as for the rest of the computer, just turn on the feature to use DHCP server on the router.

always enable by default

and use your computers to do Auto get DNS and auto get IP

not all wireless access points have routers. make sure yours has a router also. if not, get one.

are you running ICS? if so, then you'll have to kill it once you get the router.

one more thing. don't forget to put your wireless client machines on "infrastructure" mode. they won't work with the wap if they are in adhoc mode. :)

I know eh,
i always wondered what if somethong is a newbie to that, and only had 1 wireless access point and 1 wireless NIC.

then that poor dude, can't ever configure his network, and will end up frustrated, and will throw everything out the windows, then he'll jump overboard :x

Does anyone have any instructions on how to do all the things mentioned?

it depends on which one you use. I recommend Linksys products. They come with pretty detailed instructions. The new linksys wireless nics have an installer that is very easy to follow. just make sure to disconnect or disable your ICS first. Your network will go nuts with 2 dhcp servers.

How can I dial in my DSL modem using XP wirelessly, without having the host computer being on?

that's what the router is for. it would replace your desktop computer for internet sharing. that's why i said to disable your internet connection sharing (ICS), because it will conflict with the router. if you don't get a router then you will have to have your desktop anytime you want the other computers to connect to the internet.

Ok thanks a lot. I'm gonna have to get a router then.
