Hope this makes sence:

What i want to do is create a burnt cd that has my OS all the drivers and most comanly used progs on it!
That way when i format my Hd i do not have to go and set up my isp settings, modem settings, mircrosoft updates and all the other anoying things that take time.

I'm using Win ME at the moment
I think some one has said something about this to me before and called it a "ghost disk".

would this be right and could you direct me to any sites that would help me to find out more?

Thnx for your time.

Haggis.

I usually use a second HDD when I want to create and save an image - NTI and others have a backup program that'll allow you to back your system onto multiple CDs because you're likely to need more than one CD. They create one of several large files that burn to each CD, then you would need to use the program to "restore" your system.

Here's more info on using xcopy, etc.(some also use xxcopy, I've had no prorblems but sometimes you don't really get a good complete copy for a variety of reasons and the DOS related programs won't compress the data. http://www.cadinfo.net/editorial/cd-backup.htm

Check the posts here (do a search) and/or you can ask again how most guys set up partitions and the like for the OS v programs v mp3 and media files - you might be better off deciding how to do that first because then you'd also be more organized and wouldn't have to restore each partition frequently (i.e. your media, mp3 and movie files you wouldn't back so much as just burn directly to a couple of CDs).
