Hey

I have a HP cdwriter 9350i (9300series) and it has been working fine untill I installed Windows Xp Proffessional.

The software wasn't compatible with windows xp therefore i deleted it and installed recordnow, which was compatible.

ARGGGH, still no luck I have tried almost all the programs out there like Nero, Music match, etc..

The error seems to happen every time during a read or write.

I am getting the following error while to burn music CDs:

The closest thing I could find from M$ was this item.

Q309325

Go to this place and plug in that number.

I have a friend with a 9300 HP burner. He had problems with his also. I can't remember what he did to get it working. I'll hit him with an e-mail and find out what burner software he uses.

I use Nero and EZCD creator for my burning needs.

I got an e-mail back from him.

XP showed his burner as ATA 100. He had to turn the ATA off and change it in bios. The installed the newest version of the CDNow software fro the HP web site. It cured his problem.

He didn't say what mode he turned his down to. I have another e-mail headed his way.

I can't tell you how to change the drive to another mode. My box is full SCSI. I don't remember how to do it on IDE. Sorry. But now that I have given you a ray of hope. I know someone on an IDE box can walk you thru it.

I hope this helps.

also, when burning with otherprograms like Feurio, it works, but the end of each track starts with the beggining of the next track..

I had 2 hp cdrw's (an early 8000 series and a 9350). I had nothing but errors from time to time and mucho coasters. I used easy cd, roxio, nero and veritas, but still headaches.

Finally gave it to my cousin, bought a Iomega 16x rw. I never had problems burning music cd's. I wonder if it was because they had no buffer underun protection?

Will soon upgrad to a faster cdrw, but not an HP?

I finaly got a reply from my friend agin. He had to reset to PIO mode to get his to work. He hasn't had any problems sence he did that.

As far as the overlapping tracks. I have no Idea. What burning software have you tried? Does it do this with all burning software.

One of the many reasons i still run 98 sec edition on my Thunderbird 1gigahertz PC , 768 ram and 70 gig HDD ,Gforce 3 .
its far leaner and runs faster trhan the bloatware which requires activation and is full of bugs and way over priced
If i had to upgrade it would be to Win 2000 which is more stable and had most bugs ironed out by now plus has more drivers for it .

have you tried burning your music CDs at 1x ?

if you can then it's something with the transfer speed, either of the bus, or the drive.
