enabeling caller ID on modem

I have a US Robotics 56k modem and I want to enable the caller ID .

How do I get in to edit the string to accomplish this?

Put what you need in the extra settings box of Advanced modem properties.
You do realize, you need the caller ID subscription from your phone co...

umm...i have a 56K also...but does it need to be a "caller id" modem? if not, can you elaborate more on how to do it?

Yes, I already have the caller ID service .
Just needed to know how to enable it on the modem.

Right now it reads : ATI4 CID=0

I'm not familiar with your modem, but if you just change your modem string to "ATI4 CID=1" (no quotes), this should to the trick.

I have a USR modem w/caller ID and a subscription to caller ID with the telco...

Does anyone know of a good "free" program to see my Caller ID's.

(oh and I am using Win2K)

The caller ID program, and instructions are all on the CD that came with your modem, even the ones that are found in Dells, Gateways, etc.
If you don't have the CD, you can download the program from USR, all you need is proof of ownership in the serial number of the modem.
Good Luck finding it on the USR/3com website though. I looked for an hour, and got promises that it's there, but no actual download link...maybe on their FTP site?
