your system is fine, you wont Humanly possible notice the difference from XP 1600 to a XP 2100

your video and sound is fine, you might only want a larger hdd.

A larger HD? i dont know anyone who could fill up a 20gig HD, he has a 40, thats prefectly fine. And there isnt much of a reason upgrading the processor either, 1600 is just fine at the current moment. I would upgrade the ram, specially if your running XP. Or get a CD Burner man, Or both.

It 5 months away(its only the begining of august man) And the Hammer wont ship New Years, so it prolly wont get onto shelf till like a month of two into 2003, so, its alot more like 6months away.

Stick with your 1600 and add 256 mb since you seem anxious to add something.

...you don't know anyone that could fill up a 40g Hard Drive???
...geez...I have 34.8 gigs of tunes & 25 gigs of OS's ( 3 bootable OS's with backups) my system has 2 40gigs, 1 30gig & 1 10gig and I'm thinking of adding a 120gig to use for full OS backups...lol
(and will still have 1 more IDE channell if I do)....I LOVE MY SYSTEM!!!! :p

Yours is moslty backups, that doesnt count. Cuz that means doubles or most your data, if i was to backup everything, i would take up quite a bit too.

System looks good to me. If you're like me though, you just want to tinker with it all the time - that old theory "if it ain't broke - don't fix it" just means "break it - so you have something to do!!!" I don't know if you're into case modding or anything - but that's what I started dumping my cash into. I rewired a blacklight to run from internal power, got a dremel - and started cutting a window-mural into the case, incorporating fans and ventilation - so that I can work on overclocking later. I love my laptop - but I could never give up my desktop just because of how much time I spend with it, and I can't mod/upgrade a laptop:(

Only ME is backed up...XP & 2000 are on dual boot from the 10gig,
ME runs on p1 of one of the 40's & is backed up on p2 of the 30...p1 of the 30 (D:) is downloads and photoshops & swap file,p2 of the master 40 is misc storage...the other (SCSI slave) 40 is tunes (the 10 is SCSI master but realy on an IDE Promise card as is the tunes drive)..CDROM is J: & CDRW is K: (oh yea...2 gigs of the 10 (p2) is '95 dos for what games I can find that will run with this cpu...lol)

I keep a tight rein on whats on my comp. If i dont need it/ or dont use it, i dont keep it. So with my 13gig HD, i keep it very clean, and ive never had a problem with storage room. Even with several games that take up 1gig+ of memory, and my music.(which used to be 1.25gig big and growing)
