On one hand he laments the downward trend of security professionals unable to protect increasingly complex systems, and then he says that these same increasingly complex systems are empowering hackers.
Human intelligence protects systems and human intelligence tries to break into them. Sounds like pretty even odds to me.
The machines are just tools - unless you're a activist trying to drum up money for system security by telling us how scary the machines are.
