Thanks to MicroShaft, NT does NOT support USB.
And many digital camera software was not written to work on NT.
Have a customer wanting a fairly decent camera(-$300)to use on company/home computer.
One is 98 the other NT.
any suggestions, I know some of the Kodak line perhaps the 210 series work with NT, any other experience in this area ?
Thanks

According to Kodak's website when looking to download the DC210 software, it does work with NT4. Taken from Kodak's DC210 software site (http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/software/dc210/dc210Driver.jhtml)
This software performs the installation of the DC210/DC210 Plus software on a Windows (95,98,98SE,NT,2000 or Me) system. You can install in any of six languages (English, French, German, Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese).
For future reference, you can find many compatibility questions answered at http://www.ntcompatible.com

Sony makes a few that use floppies. NT should work with them.

Whatever you wind up getting, remember that NT4 does not have USB support. Depending on the camera, this *may* mean you'll have to purchase a serial cable or media reader. bdunn's idea is a good workaround too, but I think those Sony camera's are overpriced.

My digital camera uses Smart Media cards which I then load into a floppy disk adaptor and it reads the pics just like a normal floppy. You can also put data on them. I like it very much as it is faster than the serial connector that came with my camera. Floppy adaptor is made by Flash Path.

Thanks guys, I seem to forget more than I learn, I knew that NT and early 95 don't have USB support, but I must have forgotten.
I HAD to go the route of the card reader because of our IR support folks..
There are NO Digital cameras approved for usage on our NT 4.0 network, and we have over 20,000 employees total..
Locally we encompass 4 states, real good folks.
So for $46 bucks I got the only "APPROVED" card reader for my budroe , well I've ordered it from buy.com it outta be here by Monday at the latest.
This is maddening for a company this large not to test in the "Back-Lab" more products.
What I wound up getting him was
1. HP PhotoSmart 215
2. Sandisc 16mb CF Card
3. Sandisc CF Card Reader
for $26.38 total, OK Deal..
thanks for the help
