Is is possible for cache files to be changed or alter themselves internally by the placement of some type of cookie or by some other means? Is there anyplace that I can go to get reference material on this subject? Are the dates placed on the cache files fixed or can something change them? I need as much info as I can get on this so any help/info would be greatly appreciated.

The ones that are kept in the cache files for Netscape and IE. What I am wanting to know is if it is possible, through surifing the web, for some type of cookie or something to be placed that will alter or change cache files. By change I mean change bodify the cache some way to make it appear different that it actually should have been or could it even add things that were not there in the first place. Something like when one visits a site and the pop-ups appear and when you close them another one appears....Close that one and 15 of them appear. I am kind of confused about this cache thing and I am trying to find out if there is any written text, web site or something that explains the possibility of the cache files being altered on the pc without ones knowledge. Can a cookie do that? Can it happen at all? Any info/help on the subject or locations of places where I can go and read up on it would be greatly appreciated. I hope I explained what it is that I am trying to find out here. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me Steve.
