Hi everyone, i'm a new user as i decided to sign-up coz you all seem like real nice people and help alot :)
But I got a problem which i'm sure is related to my PC Chips m810lmr cheap crapy mother board.
The thing is that my Geforce4 MX440 makes the system very unstable and causes it to jam or freeze or sometimes just restart. It could happen anytime now :(
Its driving me mad and i've pulled out alot of hair:
can anyone help?
I have the newest drivers
I know lots of cooling
My systems specs are:
PC Chips m810lmr
1.3Ghz AMD processor
512 sdr ram
Geforce 4 MMX440

When looking at the pc-chips site I see it has a notation about the vid cards it will support and none of them are over 32 megs.
** After PCB V1.6 , this mainboard provides an optional AGP4x slot. We recommend the user should use one of the AGP VGA cards that we have tested. We will test more AGP VGA cards in the future.

Never had any problems with pc-chips or ecs.

Try the PCI latency and other delay options.
Reduce the AGP to 2x or 1x to see if you can get it stable.
last resolt is to change Mobo, BUT!! i wont go that far yet.
back then there was a KNOWN problem with nVidia GeForces having problem with lots of AMD mobos.
yours might just be one of those in the list.

PCChips aren't as bad as everyone says.
People tend to see a board for £60, buy it and expect it to do great things - the boards are designed for company usage not Gamer (something that a GF4 card suggests you are wanting to do).
From my memory they don't actually have an AGP Pro slot, only AGP.......

I had an early pcchips mobo and was quite happy with it until i discovered overclocking and video games. Then uit became a cheap mobo and I never bought another one, I usually get an msi(microstar) still cheap, but bung in a few goodies and are pretty stable.
If your gaming and just bought a decent vid card, I would agree with changing your mobo. hows about a mobo and athlon bundle, some pretty cheap combo's about at the mo, buyers market.:)

Yes, PCChips is not bad. I have had two of their boards, one being the M810LMR v 5.0, and the ECS K7S5A / PChips M830LMR v 3.1 and both work superb with my GeForce2 GTS.
Be careful though about inserting a video card into the AGP slot on the 810. There is a capacitor at the back to the board next to the AGP slot that can be snapped off it the analog video connector from the video card comes into contact with it. Most people were not careful about this and blamed PCChips for the problem when it was the users' fault for not being careful.
Just FYI

What OS?
I have a PCChips 810LR and it is great. Not the fastest thing out there, but it flies. When I ran 98 on it, it was a pain (lockups and crashes) until I installed 1)Motherboard Drivers 2)Video Card drivers 3)SiS AGP Port driver 4)DirectX
Then it worked fine...Now I run XP.
-PCChips 810LR v7.0A
-Duron 1GHz
-512 PNY PC133
-Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO
-Maxtor 60GB ATA/100 7200prm HDD
-DVD
-20x10x40 CDRW
-Windows XP Pro
Here is a PCChips forum. THey are experts in these very picky motherboards.

This board was NOT designed to be a performance board...

Problem here is the SiS 730S chipset. It is _very_ picky about the timing of the AGP card - if it's only ever so slightly off, it won't work. There are more than enough VGA cards that do work (the info on the PC-Chips web site is outdated).

yer, i dont think its power - i have a 450w power supply.
I suppose PcChips arn't that bad for what you pay.
But now i'm moving up into over clocking and video gaming etc i really do need a better mobo.
Thanks for everyones help :) i was suprized to see that so many answered my thread.
But I still wouldn't recommend Pc Chips as although there a good price - there after sales support is rubbish.
They never even answer emails :(
