I am interested in setting up a webserver on my LAN at work.
What software do I need to run a webserver.
I was thinking about a win2k box.

All suggestion will be helpful.

W2K Server Edition, incl IIS 5.0. Start with clean install. Make sure to install all patches. If your LAN is Novell, there is no real need to install a Novell client on this server, just install Microsoft's native "Novell Client for Windows 2000."

You don't really want or need the IPX/SPX overhead, so if you don't need it don't install it.

PLEASE!!!!! Look into setting up a LINUX server!!!! It is SO much more stable and secure. I suggest getting RedHat, it is just as easy to set up as ANY windows server. You can also get it FREE!(download from www.redhat.com)

I am running it on a intranet... I am not worried about security.

I have several versions of linux but, I have never taken the time to play with it.
I am familiar with the NT system. (I am from the old school)
I would be willing to use Linux. However, it can't take all of my time to manage it.

I would like to do a webserver with internet style webpages so the idiot users that I work for won't complain about how hard it is to pull their reports and templates.

(HealthCare industry....need I say more?)
