Hi guys, i was just wondering if 7371 score for my Home system in MadOnion 3DMARK2001 SE buiLd 330 is good enough for a factory stock video settings. :p

my Work pc got only 3028.

Everything is on Default, that goes for drivers, and default madonion tests as well.

So any comments? :t

PS:
:D Home is running ATI All In Wonder RADEON 8500 64MB DV
AMD XP 2000
:r Work is running NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 64MB
intel P4 2.0

Gee thats a fair comparison-RADEON 8500 64MB vs. NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 64MB. Why dont you just use a G2 in the p4 and bench. The cpu has next to nothing to do with the 3dmark score after 1gig.:p

i'm not comparing ATI vs nVidia, i'm trying to compare apple for apple and orange for orange.

that's why i'll like to see some real numbers NOT OC from other people with same or similar cards

I get around 4900 points on my ATHLON 700Mhz, Mobo Gigabyte ga-7IXE (AGP 2x), 128 Mbs RAM, sb LIVE! 1024, RADEON 8500LE.

Is it normal?

I ask this because I can see you all get higher marks...

Is it maybe a "bottleneck" my proccessor?

THANKS

Sorry for my bad English :p

have you tried Enabling the 4X AGP BUS, and set the AGP Aperture to match your Video card?

if you have 64 meg for video RAM
set the AGP Aperture to 32 Meg

I've tried AGP aperture 32 and 64 meg but my motherboard is only capable to AGP 2x.
Maybe I would have to buy a new motherboard and processor... sigh...

Hey folks,

Allgamer, you put the 8500 in 3rd in your list....if you go to <http://gamershq.madonion.com> and get into the Hall of Fame, the G4ti4200 is 3rd, 8500 4th...

JuNacy,
That patch actually fixes an inaccuracy which included framerates in between tests, so your score should actually drop a tad (I've heard up to 300 pts).
cheers,

Really? I thought the patch was for AGP 8x support and for future DirectX versions. Anyway, I still haven't noticed any difference, my scores remain pretty constant.

My stock score went up a ~tad~.

New stock NOT overclocked score:

10040.

However, I've attributed a few instabilities to these drivers, so they're not as stable as 30.82.

The cpu has next to nothing to do with the 3dmark score after 1gig.

HE** NO....
But why listen to me?

A Celeron 1.3 w/SDR and a PNY verto GF4 Ti 4200 gets 5441, while my XP 1800+ paired with the same card and DDR memory gets 9151. Same settings, anisotropy, aa, etc. default clocks on everything.

With the 40.41 drivers, I noticed flickering and artifacts with media player in the fullscreen mode of the battery visualization. When going back to the old 30.xx drivers the problem went away. We'll have to wait for that WHQL cert :D

Yes, and with the coolbits mod enbaling clock adjustments I could overclock my Ti4200 10MHz more (590/630) with stability! The AGP page did not work though. Has anyone tried this?

Any improvement under 100 3dmarks is visually unnoticeable in those ranges. Not to spark argument, but I don't like something that gives me a 1% performance increase in 3dMark at the cost of stability. nVidia and ATi... well known for this.

BTW at stock clocks....

If the graphics card is the bottleneck then the CPU will not make much of a difference in the 3dMark score, but... based on the benchmarks I've seen on various hardware sites processors that are only 200-300 MHz apart can affect teh 3DMark score by 400-500 points. And yes, they're P4s in the 1.7-3.6GHz and athlons in the 1.3-2.8GHz range.
