Just over the weekend I managed to create the basis for a very convincing level for No One Lives Forever. I based it on my WORK AREA. I processed it, loaded it, and stepped inside. I pulled my wife away from her book and showed her my workstation. I made several textures to help in how true to life it is, and set up lighting and what not in a creepy way. My wife was startled to see it come together.
The area is based on the Computer Room I work in. In here we have 2 Mainframes, an IBM Shark storage system, several RS/6000 servers, dumb terminals, airconditioners, magneto-optical rewritable jukeboxes, etc. Of course, I still have to create the right textures for most, but it's strange to see it in VR. I did include a toilet for where I work, as much of the time that describes my day.
Anyway, I chose to use the Lithtech engine over all the other ones I have because for some strange reason, this engine + tutorials were the easiest to follow. I do want to make other mods in Serious Sam, Deus Ex, Quake3, RTCW, and Max Payne. Do any of you have experience with these? I'd love tips and ideas.
cheers,
