Your thoughts please, should one upg. from Win98SE or not. My issues with Win 98 are USB problems with my HP Scanner and HP Photosmart printer. Much time spent with tech support and downloading various patch's fails to work.

That question has been asked before on SysOPt and you can find opinions here, also. Sorry I don't have specific URL's but they should not be hard to find using SysOpt's search facility.

WinMe is really really really bad with memory management. i have 192 mb and my resources are low all the time. if you have a chance. i would consider win2k. if you have the aviablity to it and your harware supports it.

Not. "Me" am so-so for a new-from-scratch system, but lacks drivers for some devices in older environments.

That is what I asked AFTER buying 2 copies after it first came out.

I was SURE that MacroSwamp had taken 98, removed the buggies and given us a nice OS just to shut up the open source code guys...NOT http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif

In my fairly small knowledge base here in Ga the votes are running 80%-NO 20%-ok

Granted I did use the "Promotional" upgrade which may have some bearing..

But, I used the Win98 upgrade from 3.1 and 95 with minimal problems..

Keep your money, buy Win98 for $57.00 shipped and run with the pack..

An after thought, what HP scanner are you having trouble with ?

I've never had a prob with HP printers, scanners, cameras etc ,,, just with the PavillaSlug computer, it was junk from the get go..

Got a FREE copy from Dell. Chose not to use it because of the miniscule advantages.

Thanks all, scanner is a HP 5300csi, works, just cant use the buttons. Maybe its my FIC SD11 and the via chipset??

hey i have a hp 6200c scanner and it screws up ALL the time in win me and it is also usb!!!

listen dont go win me if u have hp scanners or printers!

just my personal advise
