Any idea how to get around this one ? wullie 08-05-2002, 04:44 AM are u trying to just re install it over ME mate or have u chucked ME before u tried to install 2k? as im going to do the same my self soon and just wondering what kind of problems i might come up against too. sorry i cant help u though. Bigjakkstaffa 08-05-2002, 06:07 AM BLEUCH!! A DARLO!!! ^^^ This place is really goign down hill:rolleyes: Im not sure about the original problem, but wullie, its possible to install 2k "OVER THE TOP" as an upgrade, you wont have to do away with any of your current files or OS as long as you keep your partition as FAT32. However if you wish you can just format the lot and start afresh with 2k --- the decision... as they say -- is yours :) Jakk:t oracledba80 08-05-2002, 07:08 AM Hi, agreed - I could do a clean win2k install, but would prefer to keep current files. Disk is currently FAT32 - will move to NTFS. Bigjakkstaffa 08-05-2002, 07:34 AM Is the disk partitioned?? A possible solution to this would be to move all of your files onto one partition, wipe the other and install 2k fresh onto that one. Also are you runnign identical language versions of both ME and 2k?? --Jakk:t Steve R Jones 08-05-2002, 08:13 AM Windows Me to Windows 2000 Upgrade Is Not Supported (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q272627) More Information A supported upgrade path from Windows Me to Windows 2000 is not available because Windows 2000 was released before Windows Me, and upgrade capabilities were not included. With many core changes such as the registry split, the removal of real-mode support, and new features such as Microsoft Windows Movie Maker and System Restore, Windows Me is not a candidate for upgrading to Windows 2000. This might be a little misleading. I did this upgrade with very few problems. Your milage might vary. Any idea how to get around this one ? don't upgrade just install Win2k as a new install. then you can Dual Boot, with is way more efficient. and now you get to keep both. if you don't want to keep WinME anymore. You can import all the stuff from WinME, then delete it. SysOpt.com
