As of late, my computer has been acting very strangely. I am a online-gamer and I really enjoy playing games such as Unreal Tournament, but now when I try to play them, within a minute or less, my system reboots. Around the same time I noticed that sometimes I get a disk-boot failure on startup, for absolutely no apparent reason. I have reformatted my system, updated drivers, and done absolutely anything else that I could think of to fix the problem, but nothing seems to work. This only happens on startup(pretty often, but not always), and when I'm playing 3d video games(I have tested q3, q2, ut, deus ex, rune, and a variety of others and I still get the same results). I can play non-3d games such as planescape, starcraft, and age of empires2, which leads me to believe(and i may be wrong) that it is not a video card, mobo, or cpu problem. My power supply is pretty old and I have had to splice some wires to extend them when they were too short, so im thinking it might be the power supply. please, if anyone can help me, I will really appreciate it. My specs are amd k6-2 400@450 processor(could the over-clocking be it?), asus ax59 pro mobo, visiontek geforce ddr, and running windows 98se. Thank you very much.

It very well could be your video card. The Geforce uses a considerable amount of power and older motherboardss just can't handle it. This might be causing your reboots. It could very well be your power supply as well, if it is unable to give enough power. If you have to splice, its time for a new one anyway. If that dosen't work, I would recommend a new motherboard or you can get an older video card http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif See if you can get your hands on one and test your components in it.
