I just got myself a nice little IBM PC Camera at Office Max...
$19.95 + $10 Mail in Rebate
That's not bad.
The picture isn't bad for a max resolution of 320x240.
It is fun to play around with.
Is there any free Software for PC-Cams? I heared people use them as security cams (motion detection-software etc.).
Any ideas or links?

Hey Variable, I went and bought one yesterday. Couldnt resist @ $10.00.
Let me re-phrase something you said.
"The picture isn't bad for a max resolution of 320x240."
I would say , picture isnt bad for $10 !
I have a question for you though. When you are watching yourself on the monitor, is the picture real jumpy? Like there is no way your going to get a decent video out of it?
Im asking because I installed it on a PII-350 with 128 mb Ram, and a voodoo3, and I was wondering if it would come out better if I put it on a PIII 733,256mb Ram, Geforce2 vid card.
The other one I was looking at, was the Logitech web, ($30) more) and I belive it came with monitoring software.
Anyone have a really great PC cam under $100, thats worth buying?

Okay... it's not bad for a 10 bucks pc cam.
Isn't there any free software for pc cams??
It depends sometime the picture is frisky, but most of the time it's not, it's only a little slow (you get lines when you move it to fast..)
I have a PIII 600 with 64MB RAM Laptop.

maybe I ought to try it on the faster machine..The PII 350 picture is real slow...If I wanted to take a still shot of my son, I have to make him sit real still for at least 5 seconds. But the picture does come out decent.................(for a $10 cam...hehe)
I went to the IBM site they got it for $39.99 there...shaahh
What kind of software you mean? The cam came with about 5 progs

What has my signature to do with the movie magnolia? (I have to say I didn't see the movie).
I just thought it was cool and when I started using it was just really oc my PC for the first time. And so I thought I might add the ° to the cool because you have it with temp readings. (And of course I and my PC are cool°).
At that time I also came up with the word pool (it means basically the same as cool but it is a mixed frome porn-cool ;-)

Creative's Web Cam Blaster has motion detecting software.
Works good too, INSPITE of the 3,000 negative complaints on-line about problems.
My main complaint is the enormous space that it takes up,, WARNING keep the video clips to a very few seconds..
I did everything WRONG according to the people on the "Lets Bash Creative" web site and mine works fine.
I must admit that it was a bit tedious to set it up in the beginning..
Perhaps some of those people actually believe the words "Plug and Play" http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
