I've juz upgraded my bro's old 486 to an AMD K6-2 400. When i boot it up to windows, the mouse and modem appears not to be working. It appears that the com port is faulty.
I've checked it all out and all the cables are plugged in properly.
Can someone help me to figure out this prob.?

Go into your BIOS and make sure that the COM ports have been allocated resources. In my Award BIOS I can disable them or allocate them specific resources. ie: IRQ3/3F8 You should be able to toggle through them using the Page/Up Page/Down keys. Make sure they're not disabled. Fritz

Hi,
Also make sure the 2 com ports aren't sharing an IRQ.
