Once upon a time, when some people wanted to play Duke Nukem 3D online with a couple of mates, they executed the application iC. Then they could start a multiplayer game of duke, as long as someone hosted.
Unfortuantly, this Internet Commit program was a technology demo, and only got up to build 2. :( Although iC is fine, it lacks proper modes of compressing packets when playing and iC does not work for people who have a network configured.
Why not?
Because iC searches for the clients using the network subnet mask and ip address of other clients. Getting into the lobby is achievable, but actually executing/launching the game is not. Usually is crashes on the status "Loading sound inits".
Does anyone know of any other solutions/programs to be able to successfully enable playing Duke Nukem 3D over TCP/IP internet? (I know it's an old game, but still good).
