Out of Scan Range error

I keep getting this error when I try to play Unreal Tournament or Nascar 3 which are both glide based games. Sometimes I get to the game and can play one or two games but when I exit the game and reenter I get that error message. The funny thing is that I can play Quake3Arena all day long and never get the error. It's almost like my system loves Quake3Arena. I have a Hercules Prophet GF2 and a new 19" Trinitron Monitor running at 85 refresh rate. I have read in several places on the net that the refresh rate is too high for the monitor but that does not make sense, since I am running it at the allows refresh rate as stated in the monitor manual. Any comments are welcome? Thanks in advance.
