I am interested in AT&T@home, and I read it was 39.95 a month. But then it said that to share it with more than one computer in the house, it would be like 5 bucks extra a month. Something about buying IP numbers or something. I thought that you could just hook it to a hub with the computers hooked to the hub and it would work? Do we really have to pay the extra cash to get more than one computer on it? Or is that just something they do to make extra money but you don't have to do it if you can do it on your own?

And also, what are the chances of my cable slowing down like you hear about? Or is that just in extreme cases where it slows down your connection like really bad?

I have AT&T@Home, and with taxes and other fees, it's actualy $42.05/mo.

I believe you can connect multi computers to a single account (without their knowledge of course) but I'm not sure how it's done. If you pay the extra $5 you will get seperate, legit, IP numbers. But I say why give them extra money if you don't have to.

As far as cable slowing down with more users online...well, it's really gonna depend on the cable co. and your neighborhood. I experience some slowdown on my cable connection during peak times. But before you get disappointed by hearing that, keep in mind speed is all relative. Here's what I mean by "slowdown":

At peak times my connection often slows
to a crawling 250KB-350KB/second.

& during off times the connection zips
right along at 600KB-800KB/second
even occasionally cresting 1MB/sec.

(and remember that 1MByte/sec is the same as 8Mbits/sec. Try getting an 8Mb/sec DSL line and see what that cost you.)

Is that price with cable tv included,do you rent or own your modem?
In my area it is $49.94 without cable tv and there is no option to purchase modem.Right now I am still using the prom period,$19.95 per month for 6 months.

Look at www.dslreports.com (http://www.dslreports.com) for information on cable modems and dsl service.
