This one has me stumped. Whenever the phone rings W2K freezes. My box has a new Zoom PCI contoller based modem, model 2920. Any help appreciated. I may wind up pulling the thing out but I'd prefer to find a fix.

Do you have "Ring Active" enabled in your BIOS and/or in Control Panel/ Power? If so, disable it unless you know you want it.

Has nothing to do w/bios, it's a W2K thing. I know this cause I use the same box w/W98 and no problems whatsoever. Get calls all the time.

You probably need a driver update. Go here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/upgrade/default.asp

To find out if your device is compatible.

Also check the manufactuerer's site for driver updates for Win 2000.

i have experianced this at times in 98SE
except its when i am online, the system will lock, then a split second later get a phone call from someone who said they had tried to call 3 times in the last 5 min

I do NOT have call waiting

i think its probably some kinda feedback
atleast in my case

i dunno if that helps any but lots of info is better then none. good luck

I don't use the modem for Internet access, I have a cable modem. I've tried the power settings, still no go. Same box w/W98 has no problem, so it is something w/W2K.
