Oh no, the best sound system I've ever owned shot. I'd tell the whole story here but the short of it (no pun intended) is:
There is a green LED on the volume control that indicated power on. This LED started flickering about a month ago. I juggled the power connection and even had to tape it downwards to make it work, but it did work for a while.
As the unit was off warrantee, I figured I would check out the guts of the receiver. I determined that the off/on switch was bad so I managed to solder a wire crossing the power switch and got the power on. This worked for about a week. Now the LED will not light up at all, there's a small chance that it's burned out, but I don't want to connect to the computer while I am troubleshooting for fear of blowing something else. Its served me well for 2+ years so what's done is done I guess. The satelite speakers are still good although they need to be boosted, the subwoofer is OK although it's in the receiver box.
Does anyone have any experience with these systems or maybe a BBS on Creative ( can't find it on their site) I was thinking of the external extigy as a receiver and keep the satelite speakers.
Gee, I guess this wasn't the short of it.

Shoot, I can't use the speakers on the extigy system either. They need to be amplified.
They are liquidating these systems right now at Compusmart in Edmonton for $130.00 CAD so I might as well pick up another one and I will have 8 satelite speakers.
New rules for my kids. Shut the FPS 2000 power supply and amp off at night. The last one held out for over 2 years at nearly 24/7.
Lets see if we can get more life out of this one.

Haha, that would be a gooooodd idea from now on. :D

I havn't been able to use my PC Works 2.1 system for close to a year due to paper-thin walls in my apartment, so I have to use a nice $70 pair of JVC headphones till then.

That's a shame that happened. Not a cheap system to be toying with.
