Does anyone have problem with restarting theri computer and then the "windows Now shutting down" pops up and just freezes there? That's what happening to me. I have to press reset after that? I noticed that this happens as soon as I install my Sound Blaster Live Xgamer. Please help.

Start >Run msconfig >General >Advanced >(Activate/Check) Disable Fast Shutdown. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Make sure your sound blaster is not sharing an IRQ with anything else. Try it in a different slot.
Check Microsoft knowledge base they have some patches for Win98 shutdown problems.
Do you have any mapped network drives?
