CompUsa has Envision 17" for about $87.00 after rebate. I've been running one for a year with no probs. I like the layout, decent color and decent resolution even my extreme gamer son is satisfied. Good Monitor for the money.

I got a good used 17" for £40 (around $60 I think) at a computer fair that is held in a nearby town every month or something, I'd see if there is anything like that near your area in a local paper or something.

I just ordered an Envision 17" monitor from staples.com for $149.94 with a $70 mail in rebate. If you hunt around you should be able to find a staples coupon for $30 off $150 purchase (just add something cheap to get over the $150), so your brand new okay but not great monitor is $49.94 after rebate. Free shipping, too.! I haven't seen a cheaper new, 3 year warranty, .27 dot pitch monitor yet. :t

computer shows.

I just bought a 19" truly flat screen gateway monitor for $160 at a computer show.

A word to the wise though ~ turn the monitor off and check for scratches on the screen. Ask them to put it to the windows main screen and check the icons for ghost imaging. Ask them to run a game or two on it and check the color resolution.

I bought a 21" monitor before the 19" and the 21" had scratches all over the screen, a greenish hue to all the graphics and games, and the icons on the windows desktop had three ghost images...

Check out local thrift stores. I found a 21"for $35 (that needed the VGA cable replaced) . Had cable replaced for $30. $65 for a monitor that was only 1 year old.:t

Im just curiuos. Whats the difference between paying $50.00+$27.00=77.00 ? If your wondering it is called sales tax! There is none on shipping and as a result the vender can make more money, and cut the cost of the product. It is called simple ECONOMICS, but what do I know Im a simple mechanic?:D :t Oh ande that is brand new Phillips,Samsung,NEC,and others

i bought a 19inch flat Samsun SyncMaster955df. .20mm dot pitch. for $200 at a PC Show.

PS: i agree. envison makes good budget monitors, as well as MAG.

edit: i read my box and it turns out to be a 19 inch instead of 17inch..i knew it was too heavy to be 17inch! :D

gryphyn,
Now I'm curious....you ever heard of tax fraud?? Also, that price was for brand NEW 17" monitors?? You're goofy! It was for used ones, and paying too much for shipping, is STUPID....it's always stupid,...it will always BE stupid! Yet there are always dumba sses willing to do it....which perpetuates the problem....

I have the Envision 770-e and I think it's a decent monitor. Only think I dislike is the 1280x1024 @60hz. After an hour at that refresh rate I get a headache.

I get the Envisions at Staples. I've got one I've had for 6 months and it is a pretty good monitor considering I've got $57 in it. They have them on sale regularly if you can wait.
$149 - 30 coupon - 70 rebate with free shipping + sales tax = $57 in Indiana
You would have a real hard time beating that deal, on a new monitor with a 3 year warranty.
PS: I've resold several of these over the last 2 years and have had no complaints or problems.
