Network + cable modem question

I have a small network connected by a router. The cable modem goes into the router and then to the computers.

1- If I change the name of 1 or more of the computers would there be any problems either with the network or cable modem?

2- Im not sure but does the workgroup on all the networked computers have to me the same?

3- If the computer name and workgroup registered with the cable modem company?


hehe i haven't really had a lot of experience with networks but am trying to learn a bit more about them, thx for answering the question :)

1. As long as you don't name two the same, that's fine.

2. If you want to browse shares with My Network Places, they must be the same.
