I just got a load of ATA100 drives in, now call me stupid, but why can't I get them to work.

I format them, add partition's, then try and install Windows and encounter problems. I also encountered some teething troubles whilst formatting.

Can anyone suggest the best way to go about setting up ATA100 drives, namely IBM Desktars.

Thanks

Do you run "fdisk" and make an active partition ??

if you have a "load" of them then get partition magic, it is MUCH easier then fdisk
but try to use the dos version cause the windows one is a bit buggy.

I just installed an ibm deskstar. By far, the easiest way to install them is to use the software that came with the drive and follow the directions in the manual and onscreen. This procedure eliminates the need to run fdisk and windows partition. They are EASY to do doing it this way. I must place emphasis on "easy," real easy.
