Format and Reinstall :p BipolarBill 07-26-2002, 03:18 PM There's no master Admin account on that PC? Great - two dummies. The one who lost the password and the imbecile who set it up. :p Kherard 07-26-2002, 03:22 PM ROFL....I didnt set it up!!!!! Bigjakkstaffa 07-26-2002, 04:28 PM I always set up an admin account thats p!ss easy to remember, such as: username: Admin pass:Admin That way you NOT going (unless you be real st00000pid) to forget at least one password and its going to give you enough control over te compo and the other acounts should the brown stuff hit the fan... Unusually for myself common sense prevails --- which is nice :) --Jakk:t Kherard 07-26-2002, 04:31 PM Thats what I suggested here...Use one admin password when setting new systems up...then no one forgets it....but what do I know  AllGamer 07-26-2002, 05:06 PM Yeah, all that is true but there are just those people that are soooo PARANOID, and those that are Paranoid and Duh!!!. Being paranoid about security issue is normal. but at least REMEMBER to write it down somewhere. Bigjakkstaffa 07-26-2002, 05:14 PM I dont worry about security -- i got nowt worth nicking in the first place :p --Jakk:t AllGamer 07-26-2002, 06:27 PM Originally posted by wallijonn you can always remove his hd, make it a slave on your system, backup his data (just in case), put his hd back in his system and reinstall the OS. the problem will be if he was an admin. and he set up mail. in w2k if you are the admin and you rebuild to the same directory it'll wipe your old mail. you are then forced to install to winnt2, setup a new account and do an import. i always tell admins never to use their admin accounts to create an email, but to create their own user accounts for their emails. that way if you install-over nothing is lost. passwords are easy, set the password to something like: luitsiabiapis - LookUpInTheSkyItsABirdItsAPlaneItsSuperman hhhhiotwwg -HiHoHiHoItsOffToWorkWeGo zddzamomwawd-ZippidyDoDahZippidyAyeMyOhMyWhatAWonderfulDay towamsmasbas5pgobtd4a3hta3ht-ThereOnceWasAMightySailorManASkipperBraveAndSure5P assenegersGotOnBoardThatDay4A3HourTourA3HourTour :D LOL :r man.... if someones really want to use these for passwords, you really better remember or scribble this somewhere. these are just too hirarious... LOL cuz i'm sure i'll lose that in an instant. :p :r Bigjakkstaffa 07-26-2002, 06:31 PM LMAO!! wallijohn -- who needs data encryption when we could simply use passwords as fu**ed up as those :p --Jakk:t vibe666 07-26-2002, 08:03 PM its a bit extreme when all they'll have on the system is junk mail from all their lame friends and their CV and copies of e-mails to apply for jobs.:p :p :p unless it's an important system, simple is usually good enough and 9 times out of 10 a single admin password on all the machines will save a lot more trouble than it's worth. good ideas for the passwords all the same, i might try them out. ***viBe*** :x*NEWEST STUFF*::xThe Sysopt.com Users 2002 SETI@home team website will be www.setiteam.com and should be up by Friday 26th July.
