in recently installed a new modem. and everything was working fine. then i turned off the computer and took it to another room. I plugged everything back and started the system. when i tried to connect to the internet it gave me a error. so i checked the modem properties in the controll panel. when i went to diagnostics the mouse was on com 2... what the heck!!!! how can i remove the mouse from there?????

This is a PS/2 style mouse, correct? If it is a serial mouse, connect it to the other COM port on the back of your computer. What port is your modem on? Does the modem respond to More Info? If the mouse is a PS/2 style mouse, look in Device Manager to see if the mouse is listed on COM2. If it is and it shouldn't be, remove it. If the modem still does not respond, check BIOS to ensure that the COM ports and setup correctly.

if its an IRQ conflict, disable one of the com ports ( probably com 2) and it will free up that IRQ, just use COM1 for you mouse
i have my modem on com 2 and i have com 2 disabled in the bios.
