Check out this link from Tom's. If you ever considered painting or modding your case, this is the article for you:

I still can't believe that they actually did an article about case modding on tomshardware.com. This just goes farther to prove that case modding is no longer a toy of the elite. Next thing you'll be seeing are window mods coming standard on all new Dells. Seeing that article on toms place is almost as bad as seeing how many people are buying pre-modded cases. Lameness to the extreme.

Modded cases are for primadonnas. Real men wear beige! :p

In the lastest issue of Computer Shopper you only have to go as far as page 18 to find a system that comes modded with a window.

i must admit that there was once a time when i wanted my case all black with a yellow/gold lightning bolt down one side - however there is no one in my local area who does this sort of thing -- and the phase passed eventually :x:x

Well the black cases are nice looking - but they do get dusty - and it costs so much to get black peripherals - and I think the beige ones look funny in a colored case - unless you frame them somehow. I gotta say though - pre-modded, to me, defeats the point and pride from doing it yourself! My blacklight was not designed for computer - it was part of my mod - runs off of computer power now :D And windows are boring - everyone has those - I'm carving a picture into mine!

:O What a WIMP! :P Where's a good place to find cold-cathode's locally? What type of stores I mean? I know where to get them online - but I hate to pay that kind of shipping for just a light bulb!

Wimpy Cold Cathodes eh!

I looked in to it BIG STYLE B4 I bought one

there is a lot of **** around with these things
(like real Noisey inverters Noisey=Loud & electrically transmitted Noise which really is NOT good in the case)

So I suggest you go to 1COOLPC (http://www.1coolpc.com) The prices are pretty much the same as the UK (inc shipping) & the units are first class.

The delivery time is about 4 days (Plus you get a free case badge)

So if you go to 1COOLPC (http://www.1coolpc.com)
you will be "Getting Good Stuff"

If you want "Glo Wire" Go to the people who make it. They charge sensible money LINK HERE (http://www.fyrewyre.com)

there's my 1337 for the day.

thank you, thank you.

Anyway, im quite sure ive posted this before but:

Why mod your case? my case is under my desk and the only time i look at it is to insert a CD or turn off my computer. its not as if my mates will really care what it looks like in your PC, if you had some Mobo that looked kick **** with lightining down it and all and performed like a pile of cack then id rather stick with my green 'boring' one. why fit a window to look at all your components? why not just take off your case door!? i swear, people who mod their cases have TOO much time on their hands, and people who buy pre-modded cases are sheep... baa.

Me, ill stick with my beige case. Beige monitor, beige mouse and beige keyboard. and black sidewinder joystick

i dont know why they do that:

Make beige keyboards and mouses then make silver/black joysticks/joypads... stupid microsoft.

Case modding is all about "Personality"

Nice window, silver rounded cables, laser cut fan grilles,
topped off with a CCFL Oh yeah

Keyboard nice bit of Fyrewyre illuminating the key sides
upwards "Very Neat"

You two have no soul

Perhaps as artistic as a walruss :)

PC under desk What...... You live in Poland?
"On the Desk" where it is protected from Dust, Mrs Woman with the J Edgar, Can Be seen & if it's mine "Wondered At" :D

On the floor like a discarded pile of dog poo! I ask you
Wood Mate Wood . Thats what you want........
None of this "I haven't got space" (apart from the one between yer ears) Need a bigger desk MORE WOOD! (it comes from trees you know
:D :D

1) there are so many case types that your case is probably ALREADY personal

2) WHY would i WANT my case to be wondered at? NO i want people to WONDER at the stuff thats going on on the monitor, which is far better than looking at some stupid multi-coloured case with a WINDOW!

3) I dont NEED my case to be on the same level as my monitor, it saves space, and space is not what i have in my bedroom.

4) yes, it is about personality, its about whether you like it or not, but for someone who doesnt have the money, doesnt have the time and cant be arsed, ill think ill stick to my beige case.

what is better than having a kick *** PC, built to the perfect spec (I doubt many of us have that, I know I did but not any more) inside an old, normal beige case? When you attend lan parties, and everyone has there case modded to the extreme, but can't afford good bits inside it kinda upsets them a bit :D

Having said that, I do have a big blowhole with three 40mm fans and lights to illuminate the switches and bottom panel controlled by a bay controller (slight fancy bit, nothing to great)

Im with optimus to a certain extent here, modding can be a little expensive and risky, especially in the case of windows, lighting etc. i for one cannot afford what are essentially superficial modifications that wont actually make my PC last any longer...

However if i see that modding my case will be beneficial to me - then i will, such as the 3 blow holes i have, which help reduce temps, or if i see a cheap way of personalising my case somewhat, for example if i were to simply spraypaint it balck myself, which would be fairly inexpensive...

However if there is no performance gain or similar, and the price is above minimal i rarely see the point in a mod other then to show off...

all this talk about windows and blowholes my cousin took the side panel off his computer and one side of his POWER SUPPLE off and moved the fan for the power supple to the side where the wall of the psu use to be with tape so when the tape get caught in the fan u hear the noise of the fan hitting the tape all in the name of cooler temps. its the funniest thing if you saw it like when u walk in to the room and see this thing with all the side panel off and a fan stuck to the side of the power supple u want to bust out laughing like its some kinda Frankenstein computer like and it has to be the ugliest case in the world with little blue blockers to make the edges not pointy o god and he wants to upgrade but only the motherboard and the cpu not the box!!!!! :r

I dont understand why all the talk of being girly if you go with case mods, if your that insecure about your manhood seek theropy but dont bother us with your immature comments.

Case Mods are becoming more and more popular and I personally just went ahead mod'd my case with windows, lights, extra fans ect.. I will admit I get the occasional, Hey cool case, but then its over. Its nice to own nice things, and if you like it go for it. If your not into computers then why the hell are you on this forum :) . If you keep your computer in a shelf then its kinda dumb to mod it, cause you wont see it.

I think if you go through the trouble of making a nice PC, you should make it look nice. Of corse I dont expect to hear people with 500mhz celerons saying stuff about case mods cause obviously they dont care much about there PC or they would of bought a real one.

Conclusion: Case mods are nice for nice PCs , if you have junk or you hide your PC then dont go for it. If you put hardwork into making your PC then make it look nice.

Puleeeze. Put money into the components. I equate lights and windows to spoilers and neon on rice rockets - superfluous. It doesn't help performance and makes the owner look like a real dork, IMO. Do you respect a rice rocket Acura with the giant tailpipe and other doodads? The first Mustang GT off the showroom floor will stomp it for less money. Think about it.

Please, I equate Rice rockets with Celerons and Durons and in that case I say dont mod it or you will look like a dork.
I equate tyour Mustand , personally i would of choose a real car like a vette or transam, not a rustang, but anyway. They would be equal to p4s, and Athalon XPs and who would buy one of them without going with the extra features like a T-top or Convertable...????? :) :) :)

I dunno' why but I used to work for a guy who had a Ferrari
he had it for three years & was constantly complaining that it needed a new doobrie whatsit £3,000 then a complete
engine re-build £1.500 plus bits

He had a Lamboghini B4 that & he said that was the same
NICE but unrelyable as F*** as he used to put it

Then he had a 2nd hand Bentley but people used to keep scratching it :p

Now he has a Toyota Soarer (Lexus LC.....) cant remember what
in the US & he says its the best thing since sliced bread :x

Tiz nice but........He now has a tow bar on it

BipolarBill

Don't the English demand unreliable automobiles? Here's a list:

Austin
Rolls
Bentley
Jaguar
Rover
TVR
Triumph
MG
Aston Martin

Where do you see "reliable" there? ;)

Hey - is the towbar for towing his other junk with the Toyota? :p

j.m@talk
07-28-2002, 07:01 PM
Yeah could well be right there

Mind you Rolls & bentley have got their S*** to gether
now they are using BMW motors :(

British Leyland Ooh dear (Austin, rover, Jaguar, triumph, MG)

Mind you I think I could put up with one of those Aston Martin's
farting, coughing & squirting oil around

But TVR they are made about 20 miles down the road,
I dunno' when they get it right, they are really good
but usually the MK2 is a beast of burden

I'll stick to my "British Made" Nissan, it goes too.....
quite well, Made in a place you may of heared of "Washington"
Tyne & Wear, NE England )-|

Perhaps a series of 3mm holes may be good

mark them out with a felt pen first
be sure to use a center punch & drill carefully
perhaps with a drill with a gradual trigger action

failing that why not connect up the front fans but via a
inline resistor so as to make them go slower thus not much noise

PS Put a Cold cathode light in too, you will be supprised with the effect it will have Eh BPB :D
