Can anyone explain to me what DMI 2.0 is?
And, is DMI 2.0 in any way related to pre-failure notifictation?

DMI stands for Destop Management Interface. It's used for remote administration of workstations. things like BIOS upgrades (only on very specialized systems), remote booting and installation, etc. It can be used to send system warnings to DMI consoles, but usually, that sort of thing is done over SNMP (simple network management protocol).
