Just a quickie!

I'm running a P3, 2HDDs (20G Maxtor + 6G Quantum), Voodoo3 3000 AGP, IDE CD burner, DVD drive. I also have a modem, soundcard and ATA66 controller installed.

All this is running nicely off a 235W power supply. It is a good quality unit (AOpen branded) and the system is fine.

If I upgraded to a dual P3 setup, is the power supply likely to cope??

If I upgrade, I won't need the ATA66 controller (new mobo has it on board) but I may install a net card if I get cable internet, so the total load will have increased by just 1 CPU.

Cheers!

Cheers for the reply Scotter!

You've basically confirmed what I was thinking. Now the choice is between a generic 300W for £stlg 18 or an Enermax 330W for £stlg 50!

I'm sure the Enermax has the better warranty and I've heard of them swapping defective ones without hesitation, which is reassuring.

The Enermax units also have two incredibly quiet fans, so they'll improve case ventilation.

Grrr... don't you just hate it when it all ends up costing more than anticipated? http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
