old P2 games

Hey guys.

My youngest brother is getting a system tomorrow comprised of

P2 450
256MB Ram
ATI Radeon 7000 64MB
Win98
15GB Hard Disk

he cant afford to upgrade it and its his birthday in a few weeks and id like to get him some games that will run on this system.
he mainly likes sports. i.e racing.NHL etc but what games wil run on this spec?

ive already got him Need For speed 3 and grimfrandango. But games like RTCW wont play on that spec very well as he doesnt care about what game aslong as it plays.

Any Suggestions will be appreciated.

Geez, with that Decent machine, you can in fact run anything you want.

just make sure he doesn't go crazy on the SCreen resolution, and stay at 16bit, the it'll be all fine.

in can RUN NHL 2002 on a P2- 300 with 128 meg or RAM, also a RTCW, on the same, they just need to stick at 800x600x 16 or less if it's gets too bad

There is also FIFA 1999-2000-2001

allmost all the games will work at 640x480 16bit!!

cheers guys. Ive tried RTCW and it doesnt atn to play atall even in 640x480x16 very choppy. But ive shortlisted

I too have a SYStem just like your brothers..


But for me RTCW works ok in 640x480..

rtcw plays ok until you get to the shotting part where you encounter 2/3 germans for the first time. then it gets so choppy that you just get killed

hmmm.... that does not seems to be a problem for a P2-300 with 128 of ram

The game will work good when you set everythin at low.
and run at 16bit colour
Also make sure yopu have no program running in the backgound.

ive tried every trick i know. Im going to try updating the drivers to the new catalyst ones and see if this has any effect.

Midtown Madness or Need for Speed: High Steaks/Porche Unlessed would do fine on that system. :cool:

he's got a radeon, he doesn't need to keep it on 16bit, Radeons get a negligible frame drop in 16bit....
I'm usin a p2 400mhz, ATI Radeon 64mb DDR VIVO, 512mb ram, wen 32bit is on i lose maybe .5 fps, it was even like that when i only had 320mb ram

All good games and you can probably find em most places.

Mercedes Benze truck racing has GREAT graphics and can be run at 1024*768 with all eye candy turn up and you could get about 30FPS on that system!!
