When I start up my computer, a screen comes up, not my wallpaper, before that, and it has one tile of a design (bubbles I think) right in the middle of it. How do I edit this screen? I cannot find a thing in Display other than wallpaper. I know it has to be simple but I can't figure this one out. Please help. Thank you.

You are talking about the background that pops up just before the background that you set in display properties pops up, right? You probably applied the "Bubble" (Tiled) as the previous background for your desktop and the current background you're using isn't a tiled background and is set to Stretch or Normal, not Tiled.

The strange thing about Windows is that it will display a background that you set previously before the current setting background just before it boots into the desktop with all the icons... you can change this by changing your background to a different image for the background and changiing back to what you are currently using now....

the wallpaper you use (not the bubbles) needs active desktop activated to use it...and bubbles is the one that doesn't need active desktop...and windows loads active desktop after a few other things, so you will see the bubbles first, then your wallpaper

Actually, I make that particular screen part of my boot up scenery by controlling what's in there.

I go to the web to find a graphic that amuses me. I right click to save as wallpaper, having stretch wallpaper.

So now it's my wallpaper. I reboot. I shag something else in my computer for wallpaper. But now, that image I took off the web it sandwiched in between the Startup Screen and my Desktop Wallpaper. It also flashes at shutdown!

When I boot up, I see Microsoft Nothing.

If the above doesn´t work for you - open the Win.ini file located in the windows directory.

In the DESKTOP section you will find what you´re looking for. These lines loads the "first" screen.
