I would like some feed back on this set up if possible
Also I have heard that XP CPU's are SH1T for O/C is this true?

Although i dont own one myyself the Athlon XP's are indeed, said to eb somewhat less than fantastic for overlcocking, in comparison to the P4's or even the Tbirds (which are absolute beautys to work with despite high temps if you ask me)... sorry :(

It is true the xp are no shinning starts at Overclocking, however I think you will be able to get the speed of an Xp 1900+(1.6ghz)
It is only about a 130mhz overclock which I think you will be able to do. You would need a FSB of about 145mhz so it would be 11x145= 1595mhz. 11 being the default 1700+ multiplier. Which could be possibly with good RAM.
Good luck, and the setup looks good.

You can overclock the XP but only by 100mhz or so.
when you start overclokingthe xp they really heat up a lot compare to p4s.
You can get 400mhz+ from a p4 with stock cooling.

grimfandango- why did you even bother posting that, just to start up an Amd; intel fight? Which question did you answer of STP72?
I have seen tons of Xp overclocked by more than 100mhz. Were are you getting this info from, I am pretty sure it isn't personal experiance.
I am sorry, but for once I am going to have to argue and disagree with you.

Each of us is entitled to our own opinions.
EVEry where I read that AMD xps cant be overclocked more than 100mhz or so.
ANd the only way to overclock them more is by unlocking the multiplier, Which very few will want to do
IT IS A FACT>>AMD XPs CANT BE OVERCLOCKED more than a few mhz UNLESS YOU UNLOCK THEM
What ever I have read so far tells me that.
Every where people say the same thing.
I cant just post what ever you want to hear or LIE that they can be OVERCLOCKED BY 500-800MHZ
SORRY
So by how many MHZ can the XP be overclocked .
110-130mhz maybe 140?
Oh just one more thing I Did not want to start another intel/amd war. One is already going one else where.
Remember
Each of us is entitled to our own opinions

calm down people. No need to start an anrgument.
I agree with grimmi that intels are better at overcocking than XP's in general but as i said i hav my XP1800 at 1.725GHZ from 1.5, and im not a seriouls ocverclocker so i have increased it by 200MHZ so pesumable someone with a bit of a brain can increase it by much more

Now is that better??
Grims right - everyones entitled to there opinion - and that was her's, and i at least do agree with it to an extent -- noe can we please cool it... if i wanted an argument id go and talk to my parents for more than 10 minutes...

grimfandango- Notice how I never wrote in caps, meaning I was not yelling rather talking. Mabey you should try that. Also 100mhz is less than 150mhz. . I know they are no gems and cant be overclocked by 500mhz.
Also You did notice around the board numerous people are getting more than 100mhz out of there XP. I am just wondering were you are getting this info. I would also like to read "all" those sites that say it.
Guys I am calm when Did my post ever turn uncalm? I know everyone is entitle to his/her opinion, however I do like to argue it when I feel it is wrong, is there anything wrong about that? My asking of grimfandango was not even in a very aggressive way now was it?
grimfandango- We all know Intel overclocks better than AMD, however did STP72 ever ask on what they could do? I dont care if you think Cyrix is better, as that is your opinion, however are you saying that everyones opinion is correct and no one has the right it argue it?
You really didnt have to go all haywire on me, go back in re-read my origional post after yours. Mabey you read it differently than me, but I didn't mean to come of strong headed.
Also things with question marks after them are not blaten attacks rather questions. As you saw mine. They are questions which when I wrote them I was not critizing you in anyway. Chill man.

I think when some one asks why did you even bother posting?
That is when it shows who wants to be aggressive or haywire.
I did not state that no one has the right to argue.

"""""We all know Intel overclocks better than AMD, however did STP72 ever ask on what they could do"""
I gave little information on what the Pentium 4s can do.
Its EXTRA indeed, But I dont see anything wrong with.
My claim is/was right. They can be overclocked very well.
why do you think that my post is offensive in anyway?
I suggest we leave this here.

For the record you took :"why did you post" differently than I had planned.
I suggest we leave this here.
edit--you edited in one last question after I posted, so let me answer that. I found your posts offensive because they were almost all written in CAPS.
I'm done

Hey i dont like some things that people type in posts but i respect their oppinion even though id like to reply saying "you dont know what the hell you are talkin about".
Cummon Guys Chill and leave it at that. We rarely g#have arguments at sysopt, lets not this be one

a rather intresting thing you guys missed out on is, althoguht the amds dont over clock AS WELL, if you say they can over clock 120-150(witch is pretty generious most of the time) still consiter, there a rated chip meaning, you actualy getting about 200 - to maybe 300 mhz on an intel chip....witch still is less then 400-500 mhz.... but the thing that i look at myself is price.... and for me the AMD's seem a little more feasable :D
not only that i always like to see the underdog do well... hope i didnt' spark anything i thoguht i would just point that out, that yes it's not 400 -500 mhz but its more then 100-150....

That is an excellent point, I completely forgot about the Pr rating system, so even a few 100mhz is more than just 100mhz.
