What is the quality of thier CD-ROM drives, CD-RWs, and HDs?

What is the quality of thier CD-ROM drives, CD-RWs, and HDs? Jonty 02-06-2001, 02:45 PM Don't know about their computer products, but 18 months ago bought one of their VCR's and it lasted 6 weeks and died. I got my money back from the store and bought an Aiwa, its been an excellent machine. Sorry I can't be more helpful on this. Ultima 02-06-2001, 02:54 PM Well, we use samsung dvd players in the production, and altho we did have a few models of which the lasers would go outta line pretty quickly, most of them have been excellent dvd players. Ultima kfaulkne 02-06-2001, 03:07 PM Its been a few years since I have bought samsung hd, but let me tell you, I had so many bad drives ( maybe 8 outa 10) that it would take a lot of convincing for me to touch them again. darkmallard 02-06-2001, 04:41 PM Samsung is just fine. I have a 40X Samsung CD-ROM that has been working nice and quiet for 2 years along with a Samsung floppy drive. With CD-ROM drives, it really doesn't matter. You're likelyhood to get a bad one is just as probable compared with another brand name. Just get them from a good retailer, so there are no problems taking it back if it is bad. If it is pretty quiet opening, closing, and accessing, minus the obvious high-velocity spinning sound, it should be OK. It's pretty much the same with hard drives. CMonster 02-07-2001, 08:44 AM I would recommend against Samsung hard disks -I built 4 systems with the 4.3GB drives and 2 of them went belly-up in the first year. 50% failure rate is unacceptable. darkmallard 02-07-2001, 09:56 AM I just checked my hard drives last night and my 4.3G drive is a Samsung also. Still running great since '99. [Neo770] 02-07-2001, 04:00 PM I have to 8.4 gig samsung drives in RAID 0. They are not the fastest HDD around and one of them has a bad sector. But they are ok for what I need. I have them because they where cheap. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif NDC 02-07-2001, 05:46 PM I use FDD, RAM, and a couple of old HDD's from Samsung and I have no complaints. NDC 02-07-2001, 07:37 PM As for all their other computer hardware, they don't have a name....but Samsung is one of the World's leading company in Memory and LCD screens. Their LCD screens are rated grade A. SysOpt.com
